The Massachusetts Highway Department has awarded to S&R two major bridge rehabilitation projects. One is the 16.4 million dollar contract to rehabilitate the steel truss bridge that carries Route 113 and Route 3A over the Merrimack River in Tyngsborough, MA, the other is the 17.2 million dollar Union Street Bridge over the Merrimack River in Lawrence, MA. Both bridges are steel truss bridges that will undergo major steel component replacement and substructure modifications as well as complete cleaning and repainting of the superstructures. The projects are the largest single contracts that S&R has been awarded. Work on the projects is scheduled to start in the spring of 2009 and take three years to complete. S&R’s estimating team is led by, Vice President of Construction Operations, Pete Salinder and Construction Division Manager, Eric Jones.
